ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) - Deputies have arrested a suspect in the shooting deaths of a 13-year-old boy and a man during a sleepover at a Georgia home.

DeKalb County Police say 13-year-old Demarcus Shirley and 45-year-old Chauncey Newman were shot to death early last Thursday when multiple shots were fired into a home from outside.

Demarcus and several other young boys were at the home for a sleepover at the time.

“He seemed eager to learn. Kind of athletic. He had a lot of life in front of him,” said Demarcus’ great uncle, Gregory Carthon.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday afternoon that its fugitive unit captured suspect 21-year-old Keyshun Webb earlier in the day. The U.S. Marshals Service and the Clayton County Police Department provided assistance.

Webb faces 11 felony charges, including two counts of murder, eight counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and one count of cruelty to animals, the sheriff’s office said. He is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.

According to arrest warrants, dozens of shots were fired into the home from a vehicle that Webb was seen driving around the time of the incident.

Video footage shows Webb was also involved in a separate drive-by shooting the same day as the deadly sleepover shooting, the warrants say.

Shell casings at both scenes matched, and gang involvement was “likely,” according to the warrants, which said the shootings involved two vehicles and four male suspects, including Webb.

Police have not publicly identified the other suspects.
