Federal judge sentences Olathe man for gun theft, transporting child pornography
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An Olathe man was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison without parole for stealing 41 firearms from a Raytown gun store and for transporting child pornography on his cellphone into the United States from Mexico, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors claim Frank Guereca, 24, and two other people used a stolen U-Haul truck to ram the storefront of a federally licensed firearms dealer in Raytown on June 16, 2023, punching a hole in the front of the business to gain access.
Three of the 41 stolen guns were later recovered, including one in California and two in Mexico, prosecutors shared.
Authorities said Guereca was arrested on April 25, 2024, while trying to cross back into the United States from Mexico. He had a cellphone that was seized, and a later review found at least 250 images and 70 videos depicting child pornography.
Guereca will be required to register as a sex offender after his release.
