New study says Kansas City drivers are the second ‘speediest’ in the country
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Out of the 50 largest cities in the country, Kansas City has some of the fastest drivers of them all, according to a new study.
The study by LendingTree used insurance claim data from the 50 largest cities in the U.S. to determine how many traffic incidents were speeding-related. This included speeding tickets or accidents where speeding was determined to be a factor.
The top city was Portland, Ore., with 11.61 speeding-related incidents per 1,000 drivers.
Kansas City, Mo., came in second with 9.45 per 1,000 drivers, followed closely by Jacksonville, Fla. with 9.01.
The least “speedy” cities were New York, N.Y., and Louisville, Ky., with 1.8 and 2.09 speeding-related incidents per 1,000 drivers, respectively.
According to the study, the age group most likely to be involved in a speeding-related incident was Gen Z with 11.87 incidents per 1,000 drivers. Comparatively, the Baby Boomers had the least.
- Gen Z (ages 18-26): 11.87 incidents per 1,000 drivers
- Millennials (ages 27-42): 6.73 incidents per 1,000 drivers
- Gen X (ages 43-58): 4.94 incidents per 1,000 drivers
- Baby Boomers (ages 59-77): 3.22 incidents per 1,000 drivers
- Silent Generation (ages 78-96): 4.25 incidents per 1,000 drivers
