Murder suspect arrested after going to police department to file stolen vehicle report

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC/Gray News) — A murder suspect was arrested in Louisiana after authorities said he went to a police station to report a stolen vehicle.

Lake Charles police said the family of Jermaric Andrus, 27, reported him missing on July 7.

Detectives found his body in a field on Sunday night.

Based on evidence at the scene, officers determined that Andrus was the victim of a homicide.

On Monday, 28-year-old Colby Parker arrived at the Lake Charles Police Department to file a stolen vehicle report.

Police said Parker was already identified as someone detectives wanted to interview in connection with Andrus’ death.

After speaking with detectives, Parker was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility.

He is charged with second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and unlawful disposal of remains.

Parker is being held on a $1.2 million bond.
