KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City police are praising a mother after they said she turned in her son who was accused of stealing a car.

The Kansas City Police Department wrote on Facebook a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old ran from officers earlier this week after a vehicle theft. Police said the teens ran into one of their homes, but the mother, who was tired of her son’s behavior, “didn’t put up with it,” telling them to leave so they could be arrested.

Officers took the teens to the Central Patrol Division for booking before they were taken to juvenile detention, police said.

KCPD said the vehicle was returned to its owner within days. Police said their Helicopter Unit first spotted the stolen car.

Officials have not released any information on what charged the teenagers may be facing.
