Kansas City artists sought for 2026 Art in the Loop Project amid World Cup excitement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Art in the Loop Foundation is now accepting applications from visual and performance artists to showcase original works along the Kansas City Streetcar route and in Downtown and Midtown locations, coinciding with the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 13th Annual Art in the Loop Project, presented in partnership with the KC Streetcar Authority, will run from May through October 2026. The timing offers participating artists a rare opportunity to have their work experienced by hundreds of thousands of residents and international visitors traveling through the heart of Kansas City during World Cup season.
Selected artworks will be installed along and near the KC Streetcar route, connecting the River Market, Downtown, Midtown, and the Country Club Plaza.
“This year’s theme, Home, invites artists to explore the places, people, and experiences that ground us and shape who we are,” organizers said in a statement. Artists are encouraged to share unique perspectives on what home means to them, whether a Kansas City native or newcomer.

Visual artists may submit proposals in six categories:
- KC Streetcar Wrap
- KC Streetcar Shelter (Within the Frame)
- KC Streetcar Shelter Mural
