2 arrested after naked man walks into QuikTrip claiming to have been stripped, robbed
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - Two Independence men are facing robbery charges after they allegedly took a man’s clothes, money and other items at gunpoint.
According to court documents, the Independence Police Department was dispatched to an area QuikTrip around 4:11 a.m. on Sunday, August 24, after a naked man arrived on the property.
The man told officers that a woman he had known for years had asked him to come over to her apartment after work that night for a “romantic encounter,” documents state. As he sat in the living room next to the woman, however, two men he didn’t recognize came out of a back room.
One of the men, later identified as John Page, 35, allegedly hit the victim in the head while the other, Joseph Carroll, 36, held a gun to his head.
The victim said he was forced to take off all his clothes, and Page and Carroll took them, his phone, $130 in cash, his car keys and other items before letting him leave the apartment.
When officers arrived at the apartment to investigate, they reported finding a black handgun “in plain view” along with what appeared to be white, crystal-like narcotics and smoking pipes.
Page and Carroll were still at the apartment and were detained.
When questioned, Carroll claimed to have never seen the victim in the apartment. Page declined to answer any questions.

The woman was also questioned that day and told investigators she had not invited the victim to the apartment that night. She said that he had arrived unexpectedly and started making unwanted advances, which he had reportedly done before.
The woman said she went to bed before the alleged robbery happened and denied knowing anything about it until Independence police knocked on the apartment door.
Page and Carroll were arrested and booked in the Jackson County Detention Center on $100,000 bonds.
They both face a felony first-degree robbery charge, while Carroll has additional armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm charges.
