KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Royals outfielder Alex Gordon on Thursday announced he is retiring from Major League Baseball after the team's final game.

Gordon, General Manager Dayton Moore and manager Mike Matheny will hold a Zoom news conference at 2 p.m. to address Gordon's career and retirement.

The Royals' final game of the 2020 season is a home game Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.

Gordon is a seven-time Gold Glove winner and is near the top in many franchise offensive categories, including walks (682, third), home runs (190, fourth), doubles (357, fifth) and extra base hits (573, fifth).
