ALAMEDA, Calif. (Meredith) – The U.S. Coast Guard released video of a seizure of more than 39,000 pounds of cocaine and 933 pounds of marijuana in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
United States Vice President Mike Pence will attend the Coast Guard Cutter Munro's offloading of the more than 39,000 pounds of drugs Thursday in San Diego.
The Coast Guard says the drugs are worth a combined value of $569 million.
The Coast Guard says the drugs represent 14 separate suspected drug smuggling vessel interdictions and disruptions off the coasts of Mexico, Central and South America by three Coast Guard cutters between May and July 2019.
Pence is scheduled to visit Munro and give remarks along with officials from the Coast Guard, Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Administration.
