Kansas City, MO (KCTV) - Three people were shot and a fourth person was trampled by the crowd on Saturday night in the area of 39th and Main St.
Just after 11:30 p.m., officers who were on routine patrol heard sound of shots in the area. They responded and observed numerous people spilling out from the business at 3933 Main St.
Upon their arrival, they found two victims with gunshot wounds, and one person with injuries after being trampled.
A third shooting victim had been taken to the hospital by a third-party for treatment.
One of the shooting victims was in critical condition, the other two had non-life threatening injuries. The trampling victim had minor injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
The owner of the Local Legends Gaming Center, Abdul Rasheed Yahaya, said that an outside agency had rented out the event space for a 21 and younger group when the incident happened. There was no alcohol.
Around 11:30 p.m., a confrontation broke out. An outside individual starting shooting, but it's unknown whether that person was inside or outside the building.
Yahaya called 911 and police arrived quickly because there were already on Main Street. The owner stayed and talked to police.
Yahaya wants to stress that safety is very important to them and that they strive for a safe environment. He also noted that they work to help the community and are about to give a little over $50,000 to the city as a scholarship.
