(Meredith) - A food manufacturer is recalling several baked goods, including hamburger and hot dog buns, which may contain pieces of plastic.

Flowers Foods announced the voluntary recall on Tuesday following the discovery of small pieces of hard plastic in production equipment, according to a press release. Consumers should not eat the affected products because they may pose a choking hazard. 

The recalled items were distributed under a variety of brand names and sold at several stores, including 7-Eleven, Walmart, Publix, and Aldi.

They were shipped to the following states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

No related injuries or illnesses have been reported. 

Consumers should throw away the affected products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
