Suspect accused of attacking NY woman

The NYPD is searching for a suspect accused of slashing a woman in the face Sunday, Feb. 3, 2018.

(Meredith) -- A New York woman said she needed 44 stitches to close a gash on her face after a man slashed her with a razor blade in broad daylight.

Dana Sagona, 31,  told the New York Post she was waiting for a Lyft outside her friend's Brooklyn home on Sunday when a man approached her and called her pretty.

"You pretty. Are you scared?” the suspect said, according to WNYW-TV.

When Sagona tried to walk away, the man allegedly slashed her left cheek and punched her so hard she fell to the ground.

According to the Post, the suspect ran off with the woman's purse containing her phone, keys, credit cards and a $130 MetroCard.

Sagona was treated at Woodhull Medical Center.

The NYPD is still searching for the suspect, who can be seen in a surveillance video that the department posted to Facebook and Twitter.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
