Two men are accused of swindling about $350,000 from a 100-year-old woman, according to a published report.

Donnie Ray Embrey, 46, and Richard Lee Edwards Jr., 44, were charged with financial exploitation of the elderly, according to a report from the St. Joseph News-Press.

The St. Joseph woman lost her entire savings. Prosecutors said the two men were supposed to do work at her residence but persuaded her to do even more work.

The newspaper said court papers indicate that the man never intended to do the work. The woman was allegedly intimidated by the two and other men to write an estimated 50 checks as part of the scheme.

A judge denied bail.
