Two people in custody after road rage shooting in Raytown

UPDATE, January 10: Charges have been filed in Kansas City's first homicide of 2018.

Aasim Karim has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Court records state that Thomas Rice, the victim of the Jan. 4 homicide, was found outside of the driver's door of a car on the roadway near U.S. 40 Highway and Manchester Avenue.

One witness told police the defendant had recently threatened the victim.

Court records say surveillance video showed Rice's vehicle that was following by another car that was known to be driven by the suspect.

Police also discovered shell casings at the defendant's home that matched the same firearm used at the crime scene.



Authorities in Kansas City are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a car late Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Thomas Rice of Kansas City.

Officers responded about 10 p.m. to a single-vehicle injury accident near US Route 40 and Manchester Trafficway.

When they arrived, officers found Rice dead at the scene.
