GENERIC: Fatal, deadly crash

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The authorities are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that happened on Thursday afternoon. 

According to police dispatch, it crash happened at 3:21 p.m. on E. 40 Highway just west of Brentwood Avenue. 

The authorities’ investigation determined that a GMC pickup truck was going east when it hit the back of a Nissan Crossover, which had been stopped in the center turn lane.

The impact redirected the pickup into the westbound lanes, where it a Chevrolet SUV head-on.

The driver of the GMC was the only person in that vehicle and he died at the scene. He was an 18-year-old from Kansas City.

The driver of the Nissan, a woman, was the only person inside was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A man driving the Chevrolet and his adult female passenger were also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
