Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is one step closer to serve as ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom.

Brownback is one of dozens of officials who were nominated by President Donald Trump.

I'd like to thank the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for approving my nomination to serve as Ambassador At-Large for International Religious Freedom. #ksleg— Sam Brownback (@govsambrownback) January 18, 2018

Brownback was first nominated last July to become ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom but the nomination was opposed by Democrats and LGBT groups.
