3 taken to hospital following house fire in Lenexa

Three people were taken to the hospital after a house fire on Sunday morning in Lenexa.

LENEXA, KS. (KCTV) -- One person is dead after a weekend house fire in Lenexa.

Seven people were in the home at 97th Terrace and Redbird Street when the flames broke out early Sunday.

The 72-year-old victim was visiting from out of town.

The homeowner told KCTV5 News the man went back inside after the fire started to look for his wife and then had to be rescued.

The initial fire call came out about 12:50 a.m.

Two others were taken to the hospital and released. 

Several crews reported to the scene of the fire, which required significant time to get under control.

The fire could be seen from blocks away. 

The cause is unknown at this time.
