EDWARDSVILLE, KS (KCTV) -- A Hard Rock Hotel will soon be coming to Edwardsville.
The hotel, restaurant and conference center is planned to be the first phase of a larger multi-use commercial district in the city’s north end at the southeast corner of Interstate 70 and 110th Street.
The city says they are is supporting the project through a combination financial incentives.
The project involves a 10-story Hard Rock Hotel site with approximately 231 rooms and a 39,213 square foot conference center. A ground level restaurant is also included in addition to the rooftop bar and restaurant feature that will look north towards the Kansas Speedway.
The project is estimated to generate approximately $200,000 in new sales tax for the city beginning in 2020.
"While there are certain administrative and planning steps to be taken regarding the site, city officials and the development team hope to have a building permit issued prior to the end of 2018," the city stated in a release.
Development in the city’s north end has been a priority of the City Council for a number of years.
With approximately 4,650 residents, Edwardsville is located in western Wyandotte County.
