(Meredith) - Kate Upton is taking a stand against airbrushed photos in her latest shoot for Health magazine.

The 27-year-old supermodel opted to have none of her photos retouched for the September issue.

Upton, who gave birth to her first child in November, is on a mission to "help women feel healthy and strong" while shattering unrealistic body expectations.

"We live in a world where we are constantly surrounded by retouching and filters, and we don’t even realize it - it’s become the new norm, creating unrealistic expectations," she wrote on Instagram. "That’s why I loved the idea of doing this shoot unretouched, to take a step towards embracing our true, raw self."

"Months after giving birth, this wasn’t the easiest choice... but a choice I thought was important for my daughter and for women everywhere," she added.

In her interview with Health, Upton also opened up about feeling pressured to lose weight throughout her modeling career. She said she learned to tune out the criticism and had to stop comparing herself to others.

Upton and her trainer Ben Bruno created the fitness program Strong4Me as part of her mission to encourage women to focus on feeling strong—not looking any one way.

“I don’t want anyone to have to be in that negative space where they think, ‘Oh, no! I don’t fit into that size 2 dress,’” she said. “You know what, who cares? Buy another one!”
