Kansas City’s City Market is looking for 12 couples to Tie The Knot in free wedding ceremonies on Valentine’s Day.

Since 2007, the annual Tie The Knot event has been a unique and romantic way to celebrate love or renew vows, organizers say.

Live acoustic music, twinkle lights, sparkling hearts, a red carpet and an elevated ceremony platform will be available inside a heated glass pavilion in the City Market square as each couple says “I do!”

Seating will be available for a gathering of up to 50 guests.

Reverend John Navarre will officiate the ceremonies, held every 15 minutes beginning at 2 p.m. on Feb. 14. The final ceremony will take place at 4:45 p.m.

Local guitarist and singer Ted Luce will provide acoustic musical accompaniment.

Couples seeking a legal marriage must have a State of Missouri Marriage License.

Licenses are issued at any State of Missouri, county courthouse. The fee for a marriage license is $50. Couples do not have to be Missouri residents to apply for a marriage license.

Ceremony appointments are still available but advanced registration is required.

Anyone interested in making an appointment is asked to contact Sue Patterson (816) 842-1271 or spatterson@thecitymarket.org.
