On Thursday a big Christmas delivery came early to Children's Mercy Hospital all because of one Surprise Santa.
Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry for the third year in a row visited the cancer treatment area of the hospital, where thousands of gifts were unloaded for children.
Berry, a cancer survivor, said he can identify with the children.
“It’s not a good feeling and I was 25 when I did it," Berry said. "So, these are young kids who really, really look forward to Christmas.”
Berry said the effort to collect the toys was not his alone.
“It wasn’t one group or one organization," Berry said. "The whole city got involved.”
The gifts will be given out the entire year.
