KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV/AP) -- Authorities are investigating after a shooting left one man dead in a gas station parking lot in Kansas City and another man so injured that he died after trying to drive away.

The shooting happened just after 3:40 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of 30th Street and Van Burnt Boulevard.

Police Sgt. Jake Becchina says one victim was found dead in the parking lot of nearby BP gas station. He says the second victim crashed into another vehicle about a block south of the gas station. Police say the man then ran a short distance after the wreck. He was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds but was later pronounced dead.

Police detained another person on unrelated charges. Becchina says police aren't looking for additional suspects.
