UPDATE: At about 5:15 p.m., the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension found the missing girl and detained the suspect in St. Paul, Minnesota.
"Thank you to all that provided information in this matter and the media's assistance in sharing the alert so rapidly," the authorities said.
The Amber Alert has been canceled.
It is a big relief for her father and family.
Tears were streaming down her father’s face as he got the call from detectives that his daughter was found safe.
“I’m grateful,” William Rewerts said. “I’m glad. Now, I just got to go get her. That’s it.”
As of 6 p.m., her father was about to leave and pick her up.
The first thing he is going to tell her is that he loves her and to never do this again.
It is unclear how they were located or if they turned themselves in, but we do know both are in police custody.
Previous coverage below. An Amber Alert has been issued for a 13-year-old Lenexa girl.
Amber Lynn Rewerts-Schiavoni was seen about 1 p.m. Wednesday leaving her home near 77th Street and Quivira Road with a 22-year-old man. She told her parent that she was walking to Oak Park Mall.
Amber and the man, Dechon White, were later seen at 4 p.m. at the Greyhound Bus Station ticket counter in Kansas City, MO.
It is believed that the two took a Greyhound bus from Kansas City to the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN late Wednesday evening.
Amber was last seen wearing a black ‘Sons of Anarchy’ T-shirt, black jeans, carrying a “shiny” blue woman’s billfold. She is about 5’05’’ tall and 140 pounds with long, dyed black hair and blue eyes.
White is approximately 6’ tall and 250 pounds with a large “afro” style hairdo that is dyed orange. White is also known to pull his hair back into a short ponytail.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lenexa Police Department at 913-477-7301 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
Several very concerned family members were at her father’s home on Friday.
Her father said that 3 days ago was the last time he saw his daughter, when they went out for an early 13th birthday celebration.
He said White and his daughter met online.
He didn’t like it and he tried to put an end to it, which is when his daughter moved out and went to stay with her mother.
He said White told his daughter he was 16 years old.
The family said her mother saw the two leave together and said they were headed to Oak Park Mall.
However, police confirmed they boarded the bus on the Fourth of July.
“Just come home,” William Rewerts, her father, said. “It’s not worth it. Just find somebody and come home. I love you, sweetheart. Call me. Do anything.”
They have been communicating with Amber through social media, but they believe she’s not the person on the other end.
White has a criminal record. He was arrested for possession of a firearm on school property four years ago.
