(Meredith) -- Authorities in North Carolina said a 6-month-old boy missing since Thursday was found dead Saturday morning.

Chi-Liam Cody Brown-Erickson disappeared Thursday night, according to police. An Amber Alert was issued shortly after.

His mother, Tamara Jernel Brown, was arrested and charged with robbery and assault of a government official Friday afternoon.

At the time of the arrest, the baby wasn’t with his mother, who police say might be suffering from a mental illness.

Authorities said Brown refused to tell them where Erickson was located.

On Saturday, police said a deceased infant had been found by officers around 4 a.m. local time in the Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiners Office later confirmed that the body found was Erickson's.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit has now taken over the investigation.
