Electronics Technician (2nd Shift)-190002U

We’re looking for a full-time Electronics Technician at our headquarters in greater Kansas City.  In this role you will apply electronic theory, electrical testing procedures and related knowledge to lay-out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and modify developmental, production and customer returned Garmin product and electronic equipment. Other essential functions include:

  • Trace circuits of defective units, using knowledge of electronic theory and electronic test equipment to locate defects and repair electronics to the component level
  • Discuss layout and assembly problems with an Electronics Engineer, Process Engineer and management to clarify design details, functional criteria and issues encountered while repairing product
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to improve assembly, maintenance, test method or product performance
  • Inspect, analyze and interpret test data
  • Inspect, adjust, calibrate, align and modify circuitry and components and record effects on unit performance to repair units
  • Record test/alignment procedures and results, defects, repair history, numerical and graphical data
  • Must possess the ability to lift up to 25 pounds while using safe lifting techniques 
  • Compliance with HRD-0003 (Non-Exempt Attendance Policy)
  • Olathe associates only: Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess one of the following: Associates degree in Electronics Technology, Vocational Certification in Electronics Technology, a substantially related field of Military training, a minimum of 80 hours towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology or a related field OR an Electronic Technician Certification (International Society of Certified Electronic Technicians (ISCET) or Electronic Technicians Associate International (ETA-I). Other requirements include:

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Must possess the ability to lift up to 25 pounds while using safe lifting techniques 

Candidates with 2+ years related Electronics Technician or Engineering Technician experience are highly preferred!

Electronics Assembler (2nd Shift)-19000C0

We are looking for a full time Electronics Assembler to test electronic function of assemblies, components, subsidiaries and systems using test equipment and procedures at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for reading shop orders, following production work instructions and sample assemblies and receiving verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed. Other essential functions include:  

  • Train other GARMIN associates on task requirements and processes
  • Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device using hand or power tools.  Performance of this duty may include lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Tend machines or use hand tools and power tools to crimp, stake, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, cement, press fit or perform similar operation to secure parts in place. 
  • Performance of this duty may include lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Perform operator level preventive maintenance on machines, per Garmin       requirements
  • Mount assembled components such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits and sockets on chassis, panel or printed circuit board
  • Connect component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points using soldering, welding, thermocompression or related bonding procedures
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a high school diploma or GED and demonstrate verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, to provide for respectful work related communications with peers and personnel from other departments (direct contact and use of electronic mail systems). Other requirements include:

  • Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts, in the performance of essential functions
  • Associates operating machinery must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift/move 25 pounds
  • This position will require the ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours.

2 years assembly experience and soldering skills are highly preferred!

Material Handler - Floor Operations-19000QG

It’s all about variety when you’re a material handler. You’ll load and unload, of course, but you’ll also use a computerized system to track and locate orders and inventory. Mix it up by preparing shipping documents and handling customer orders. Our warehouse is safe and clean because we all work together to maintain our high quality standards. 

We are looking for a full time Material Handler - Floor Operations at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. Garmin’s Material Handlers work to issue and transact material requested through material withdrawal forms, receive, transact and sort inbound material, pulling and audit materials for KANBAN, shop order, move order or sales order requirements, and replenishing material into primary picking locations, while maintaining responsibility for following departmental procedures including FIFO and LIFO policies, ESD guidelines for static sensitive materials and complying with Garmin’s Attendance Policy.  Other essential functions also include:

  • Pack materials to ensure adequately delivery to internal and external customers 
  • Responsible to perform cycle counts as required 
  • Ability to operate RF device to transact and move material
  • Must meet quality and productivity metrics
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment 
  • Comply with all safety standards and policies
  • Ability to accept responsibility for work assignments and job duties and to be held accountable for their successful completion
  • Ability to work variable and flexible hours including overtime.

Garmin Material Handlers will also cross train to learn other material handler functions and may operate one or two pieces of powered industrial equipment such as a dock stocker or powered pallet jack.

Due to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer. 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a High School Diploma or GED. Candidates requires the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility. Other requirements include the ability to read, write, speak English and understand basic math concepts, strong experience and aptitude with computers, plus the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.  Candidates must be detail-oriented and have the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast paced environment and possess demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Candidates with previous warehouse or related experience, database experience including Microsoft Excel and Access, and/or previous Oracle Experience are preferred.
