Warren Sears

Meteorologist
Warren Sears

Warren Sears' journey brings him back home to Kansas City as the newest Meteorologist of the KCTV 5 weather team.

A proud Jayhawk, Warren graduated with a degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Kansas in 2019. There, he got industry experience at the student lead news station and even spent some time in St. Joseph doing weekend weather while finishing his degree. After college, Warren went north to the land of cheese and started his career in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

He most recently spent time down in Wichita, covering almost 80 counties in Kansas, Nebraska and the Panhandle of Oklahoma. Warren feels his time in the Wichita news market really enhanced his forecasting skills. There, he experienced first-hand just how relentless mother nature can be when a strong EF-3 tornado destroyed part of Andover, Kansas in April of 2022.

Originally from northwest Olathe, Warren was always fascinated by towering clouds and ominous storms. He would turn the TV on and watch the local Meteorologists for hours. He used to have a saying when he first learned to talk, "I know it's thunder, but it's lightning," which funny enough is actually a true statement. It wasn't until high school that Warren shadowed a meteorologist at a news station here in KC. He then immediately knew this is what he wanted to do for a living.

Warren is incredibly excited to be forecasting for his hometown. It is quite the full-circle moment for him. He had countless family members, friends, teachers and coaches that supported and continue to support his dream. One of Warren's favorite things in life is to be outdoors. He loves to hike, bike, take his dog Phog for walks and explore new areas. He also loves to expand his network and looks forward to meeting you out in the community. Warren also considers himself a foodie, so send over all of your favorite places to eat in town!

Catch Warren on weekend mornings and also on a wide variety of shows during the week.
