Josh Jackson grew up along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama.
He comes to Kansas City from within the Gray Television family, previously working at WLOX. In Biloxi, he made history by becoming the first Black male weekday Anchor in the station's 60-plus years history.
Prior to his stint at WLOX, Jackson served as Reporter/Anchor for Cox Media Group in Ohio.
Before transitioning to news, he spent four years as Sports Director in Jackson, MS. There, he garnered a regional Emmy award and multiple broadcasting accolades. He also served as Sportswriter for Emmerich Newspapers near Lake Village, Arkansas.
During college, Josh played defensive back for the Belhaven University football team. He was named Belhaven University’s Young Alumnus of the Year in 2018 for his broadcasting accomplishments and work in the community.
He later received his master's degree and began teaching online courses at Jackson State University. Josh currently serves as an adjunct professor at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.
Josh Jackson has volunteered for several years in low-performing school districts as well as with the Boys & Girls Club organization.
From overseeing marketing campaigns at non-profit organizations to covering national events such as Super Bowl XLVII, he brings much experience to Kansas City.
