Live Blog: FIFA Fan Fest closing due potential severe storms
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The FIFA Fan Fest has been canceled for Saturday, officials said.
In a post on X, officials said the event will be closing early at 5 p.m. and will not reopen.
“The safety of the public, staff, volunteers and entertainers remains our top priority,” they said.
A tornado watch has been issued for much of the metro, with a all severe threats possible, including damaging winds and hail.

Severe weather concerns are forcing a change to Saturday night’s FIFA Fan Festival lineup.
KC2026 officials announced on Saturday morning, June 13, that The Chainsmokers’ performance - originally scheduled for Saturday evening - has been moved to Sunday, June 21.
Organizers cite the likelihood of severe weather in the metro area as the reason for the postponement.
The FIFA Fan Festival is still expected to open its gates at 2 p.m. Saturday as planned. KC2026 says it will actively monitor weather conditions throughout the day.
Fans planning to attend are urged to check official KC2026 channels for updates before traveling and to follow all instructions from on-site staff.
