INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - Even with hot and muggy conditions, plenty of people still made their way to the Vaile Mansion for the annual Strawberry Festival, a summertime tradition that mixes community fun with historic preservation.

And, as the name promises, strawberries were front and center, with the Vaile Society selling strawberry treats throughout the event.
Organizers say the festival is about more than the goodies. The Historical Society uses the Strawberry Festival as a key fundraiser to support restoration and maintenance at the Vaile Mansion, helping ensure the historic property can be enjoyed by future generations.
