Kansas defeats Northeastern 6-3 in Jayhawks first-ever regional game in Lawrence

Kansas will face the winner of Arkansas and Missouri State on Saturday at 5 p.m.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV5) - The Jayhawks made history on Friday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

Kansas took down Northeastern 6-3, paced by seven strong innings from junior right-handed pitcher Dominic Voegele. He allowed seven hits and three runs, striking out nine. During the game, Voegele broke the school’s single-season strikeout record with 113 this year.

Junior utilityman Tyson LeBlanc connected on a third-inning solo home run, setting a school record with 22. Augusto Mungarrieta and Dariel Osoria also had long balls on Friday afternoon.
