LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) — The Alpha Tau Omega fraternity (ATO) has been removed as a University of Kansas organization until spring 2031 following hazing and conduct violations.

ATO was placed on two-year probation last fall after KU completed an investigation into hazing allegations from 2024 and was sanctioned again on March 20.

The removal appears on an online student organizations list, citing the following violations: hazing, harm to persons and registered organization policy.

The University of Kansas student code states that hazing “includes, but is not limited to, any action, activity or situation which recklessly, negligently or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health, welfare or safety of a person.”
