TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) - A fight at a 5-year-old’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in Ohio has reportedly left a man in a coma.

Witnesses say the fight was between Derrick Jones and Keshawn Fell. An altercation that began in the bathroom and spilled into a play area packed with children last Sunday.

The birthday girl’s uncle, only identified as a 22-year-old man, ended up suffering serious injuries, including a broken eye socket, loved ones said.

“It was my baby’s birthday. I was throwing this for her. Now, my baby is traumatized,” the man’s sister said.

Another family member said she scrambled to protect the children during the violence.

“All I could do was grab everybody’s kids and try to get them up against the wall and try to get them away from it,” she said. “They literally were running through the entire building. And all I could do was think of protecting the kids.”

The man’s sister said her brother collapsed during the fight.

“My brother collapsed ... I grabbed my brother. Please talk to me. Talk to me. I’m here,” she recalled.

Police said Jones is facing a felonious assault charge, while Fell is being charged with disorderly conduct at a hospital emergency room after the injured man was transported.

Both men have since pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on bond.

The 22-year-old’s family believes he was hit with a weapon, but police have not confirmed what caused his injuries.

Chuck E. Cheese did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
