LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - With the City of Lawrence preparing to host a team’s base camp during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, city leaders Tuesday night continued to discuss plans to accommodate them.

City leaders at Tuesday night’s meeting said they are working hard to secure the training facility, hotel and provide escorts for the team to transit during the tournament.

Leaders also said Lawrence will learn if it will host a team in the coming days.

The City is also planning on offering a direct bus service from the Central Station in Lawrence to Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.

Plans were for a route to run every half hour from June 11 to July 13.

Leaders said they are still working to decide how much fares will be.
