Metro sports bar sees calm crowd for last Chiefs game
MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) - As the Chiefs took on the Raiders in Las Vegas Sunday afternoon, fans tuned in to watch the last game of the season. Some who opted to go out to enjoy the game made their way to The Peanut in Mission, where employees say they always gear up for game day.
“Game days here are usually really fun,” said Lily Mahring, a bartender. “We always have a good crowd that comes in.”
This game brought a calm crowd. Patrons lined the bar and families sat at tables, with several sporting their Chiefs gear.
“I’m expecting a busy crowd for sure. I don’t think people are going to be too crazy party animal today since it’s the last game,” said Tristan Burnham, a server. “I think people are going to be pretty nice, pretty sad that Chiefs are going to be done, but looking forward to eating here at The Peanut.”
Looking ahead to the first postseason without the Chiefs, those at The Peanut say they aren’t too worried about a slowdown. They say they have their regulars and many who come in to enjoy other games, especially with sports betting booming.

“We don’t expect the crowd to get smaller. Everyone usually likes to come in and watch the other games,” said Mahring. “Still a fun time, we’ll serve you drinks, we have good food, and best wings in town.”
“We really appreciate our regulars,” said Burnham. “They come in and treat us well. I really love the crowd in Mission, especially. Just wholehearted, down to earth, small town people.”
The Peanut has several locations across the metro.
