Police investigate shooting believed to be accidental in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - An investigation into what police believe to be an accidental shooting continues in Lawrence.

The Lawrence, Kansas, Police Department says that around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, emergency crews were called to the area of 19th and Naismith Dr. with reports of a shooting.

When first responders arrived, they said they found the suspected shooter, who remained in the area. The victim was taken to a nearby trauma center.

After further investigation, LKPD said the shooting is believed to be accidental. There were several individuals in an apartment when it happened and everyone has been cooperative.

Investigators noted that the victim’s condition remains unknown at this time. No further information has been released.
