KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man associated with a series of business burglaries in Kansas City over the weekend has been arrested and charged.

Court records in Jackson County Monday revealed 25-year-old Javaune Tucker was arrested and charged with first-degree property damage following a series of attempted burglaries at Kansas City area businesses.

A spokesperson for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said the charges followed property crimes committed in the Brookside and Waldo area. Waldo Cafe was targeted Saturday morning in an early-morning break-in.

According to a probable cause document, Tucker was joined by three other suspects to shatter the front glass door at another business where they stole items that included marijuana products, cash registers and a 9mm pistol.

Surveillance video revealed a stolen vehicle was used by Tucker and his accomplices. With permission from the owner of the vehicle, police located the vehicle on Feb. 28 and placed a GPS device on it.

On March 1, the vehicle’s GPS moved around early in the morning. The GPS on the stolen car showed the vehicle to be at the location of the business at the time of the burglary, where multiple suspects arrived and shattered the front door. Police said no loss took place, something Waldo Cafe owners confirmed to KCTV on Saturday.

Court records also revealed five burglaries took place Saturday morning. All five businesses told police they wanted to assist in prosecuting anyone involved.

Video surveillance from several of the burglaries showed a suspect wearing the same camouflage jacket Tucker was seen wearing when he exited the stolen car.

Tucker, who was found guilty in July 2024 of stealing and tampering with a motor vehicle -- offenses for which he received four years of probation for -- was also possessing two guns inside a satchel strapped to his body.

“We take these intrusions and crimes seriously and are steadfast in serving our businesses and community,” KCPD said in a post Monday.
