Driver taken to hospital after hours pass following crash near Clinton Lake
DOUGLAS CO., Kan. (KCTV) - One man was taken to an area hospital after hours passed between a rollover collision near Clinton Lake and a call for help at a nearby campground.
The Douglas County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office says that around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, emergency crews were called to a campground near Lone Star Lake with reports of an individual who had been in a crash earlier that evening and needed medical attention.
Law enforcement officials said they found the crash happened around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday in the 1100 block of E. 251 Diagonal Rd. on the southwest side of Clinton Lake.
Investigators indicated that the injured man had been driving south on the roadway in his pickup truck when the vehicle entered the ditch and rolled several times. The man was pulled from the wreckage by individuals in another vehicle and was taken back to the campground.
The Sheriff’s Office said about two hours had passed since the crash and the time dispatch was called. The driver was taken to a Topeka area hospital for treatment.
