Car crash claims lives of 2 Missouri men after Tesla overturns, catches fire

CLINTON Mo. (KCTV) - Two Clinton men were killed just west of town after they were involved in a wreck early Saturday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2025.

Two men were driving south on MO-18 at SW 100th Road when they went off the left side of the road and hit several trees. Their 2023 Tesla Model S rolled after the impact and caught on fire.

The 36-year-old driver and 28-year-old passenger were both declared dead at the scene and their next of kin were notified, MSHP stated. It did not appear the driver was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, the passenger’s seatbelt status is unknown.
