LEXINGTON, Mo. (KCTV) - An Independence woman has been charged with trafficking drugs after more than half a pound of methamphetamine was found in her vehicle.

Lafayette County, Missouri, Circuit Court records revealed that on Thursday, Jan. 9, Anna C. Hobbs, 47, of Independence, was arrested and charged in connection to trafficking methamphetamine.

A probable cause statement filed by the Lexington Police Department indicated that around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 29, law enforcement officials near 9th and Franklin spotted a red sedan with expired tags.

During a resulting traffic stop, investigators said they found a large bundle of Ziploc bags. A K-9 officer was requested and alerted to a bag with methamphetamine that was in the center console.

Law enforcement officials noted that a search of the vehicle found more than 238 grams of meth - nearly half a pound. Hobbs was booked into the county jail, but as of Jan. 15, she no longer appears to be behind bars.

As a result, Hobbs has been charged with trafficking drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to register a motor vehicle and failure to obey traffic control. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 17. No further information has been released.
