LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Drivers have been warned to avoid westbound K-10 south of Lawrence as crews clear the scene of a rear-end collision.

The Douglas County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office says that around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, emergency crews were called to the area of K-10 and W. 27th St. - along the South Lawrence Trafficway - with reports of a collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a rear-end collision had stopped traffic near the W. 27th St./Wakarusa traffic light. Westbound traffic has been rerouted as crews clear the scene. One person was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.

Law enforcement officials noted that those headed west on K-10 will need to divert onto Iowa St. and take an alternate route back onto the highway at the Clinton Parkway entrance or farther north.
