LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - One man was arrested and two remain “at large” after they reportedly left a man lying unconscious on a Lawrence sidewalk.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the 700 block of Vermont Street. The Lawrence Police Department said witnesses called 911 to report a man lying unconscious after a fight.

When officers arrived, they took statements from several people who were involved. The victim was taken to an area hospital and gave a statement which Lawrence police said contradicted what they were told at the scene.

Using additional witness statements and video from the incident, police determined that the victim’s account was correct. The videos showed him being repeatedly punched and kicked, even after he was unconscious.

One of the suspects, a 34-year-old man, was found and arrested. He was booked in the Douglas County Correctional Facility under suspicion of aggravated battery. Two other men, a 36 and 37-year-old, remain “at large,” Lawrence police said.

The victim was released from the hospital later on Saturday after he received care.

No further information is available at this time.
