The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, emergency crews were called to the area of Kensington Ave. and E. 69th St., near the Kansas City Community Gardens, with reports of a shooting.
When first responders arrived, they said they found one man, later identified as Johnnie J. Sharp, who just celebrated his 39th birthday on Thursday, Nov. 7, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, however, he was pronounced deceased by medical staff several hours later.
Investigators said homicide detectives have taken over the case. A preliminary investigation has revealed that there was an argument between Sharp and his shooter, who were known to each other, which led to the shooting.
