LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - One man is behind bars following an early-morning 3-hour standoff inside a Lawrence apartment building after shots were fired over the weekend.

The Lawrence, Kansas, Police Department says that around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, emergency crews were called to the area of 9th and Delaware St., near the 9 Del Lofts, with reports of a shooting.

When first responders arrived, they heard more shots fired from inside the building. The man who fired the shots would not come out of an apartment on the second floor.

Law enforcement officials said they worked to check on those who lived in the units directly attached to the man’s apartment to ensure no one was hit and that they were evacuated safely.

Simultaneously, negotiators indicated that they attempted to get the shooter out peacefully. A team was eventually able to enter the apartment and safely arrest him around 8:30 a.m.

The Douglas County booking records revealed that Conan P. Brazee, of Lawrence, was booked in connection to the incident. He remains behind bars on one count of criminal discharge of a firearm and one count of interference with law enforcement.

First responders noted that no injuries were reported. No further information has been released.
