Man dies in Northland apartment complex shooting, another detained for questioning
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police have responded to a homicide Wednesday morning in Kansas City’s Northland.
The Kansas City Police Department stated that officers were informed of a fatal shooting in the 1400 block of NW 80th Terrace just after 6 a.m.
Responding officers were shown inside an apartment where they found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took the man to an area hospital where he was later declared dead.
UPDATE: KCPD identified 27-year-old Christopher Henderson as the shooting victim.
Initial investigations revealed that there may have been an interaction between the victim and a person of interest inside the apartment that led to gunfire. The person of interest was located a short distance from the apartment and was taken into custody for questioning.
KCPD is not actively searching for more persons of interest and there is not believed to be an ongoing threat to the community.
An investigation is ongoing in coordination with the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.
