Missouri man drowns attempting to save dog

WALNUT SHADE, Mo. (KCTV) - A senior man is dead this morning after police say he drowned attempting to save his dog.

At noon on Thursday, April 11, the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to reports of a man going under at Bull Creek Stream, one mile west of Walnut Shade, Missouri just north of Branson.

76-year-old Paul M. Moriuchi was not wearing a life jacket.

The Taney County Sheriff’s Office and Western Taney County Fire Department assisted in the attempted rescue and eventual retrieval of Moriuchi’s body.

A searcher did find the victim’s dog a mile downstream.
