FAIRWAY, Kan. -- Thunderstorms were working their way across the northwest corner of Kansas on Wednesday afternoon.The cities of Atchison, Kan., and St. Joseph, Mo., appear to be in the path of a pair of a large thunderstorms that could produce large hail and a possible tornado.Golf ball-sized hail was reported at the St. Joe airport at 4:45 p.m. The storm is tracking east at 20 mph.At 5 p.m., a severe storm watch stretched from eastern Missouri all the way to Colorado.The tornado watch which was in effect until 4 p.m. for northern Atchison County in Kansas has been allowed to expire, KCTV Chief Meteorologist Katie Horner said. The storm could still produce large hail and strong straight-line winds.Weather radar was showing rotation in the clouds near the cities of Huron and Lancaster in northeast Kansas.
