Sessions will run from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sessions
Note the Mad Science session has a small fee and the Storm Spotter Class has an age requirement. All sessions are limited to the first 150 registrants. Once a session has been filled, we will place a notice on this Web page. We will confirm your registration via e-mail. Bring a copy of that confirmation to the Weather Experience Fair.

Mad Science Experience
Mad Scientists bring to life the amazing power of air in their Up, Up and Away presentation. Children get their hands on weather experiments set up throughout the KCTV5 studios. Children can visit the Storm Track 5 Weather Center, meet our on-air meteorologists and ride on our hovercraft.

10:30 a.m. -- Sign in begins.

11 to 11:45 a.m. -- Up, Up and Away Presentation in Studio B

11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. -- Hands on weather experiments in KCTV5 Atrium, hovercraft rides, Katie Horner’s book signing and KCTV5 Weather Center tours

Storm Chasing Experience
Professional Storm Chasers as seen on the Discovery Channel will amaze your eyes and rattle your nerves as they take you through their amazing, hair-raising encounters with tornadoes, hail, and other extreme weather events.

12:30 p.m. -- Sign in begins.

1 to 2 p.m. -- Storm Chasing Presentation Studio B

Storm Spotter Class
Learn how to identify severe storms and become an integral part of the severe weather warning team. You will learn how to identify wall clouds, shelf clouds, roll clouds, RFD’s, tornadoes, hail shafts, rain curtains, over shooting tops, cloud striations, single cell, multi cell and supercell thunderstorms.

3 p.m. -- Sign in begins.

3:30 to 5 p.m. -- Storm Spotter Class in Studio B

In the event of severe weather in Kansas City on April 11, the Weather Experience Fair in part or in full will be rescheduled. Money paid to Mad Science will be refunded by Mad Science if requested. Mad Science is not affiliated with KCTV5.

In the event of severe weather on or around April 11, anywhere in the central plains. our professional storm chasers may be deployed to chase storms. If that occurs, meteorologist Devon Lucie will present the Storm Chase Experience.
