An Arby's restaurant was destroyed when at least three tornadoes touched down in the Northland overnight.

The roof and two walls of the Arby's near East 23rd Street South and Missouri Highway 291 were blown off and landed on trailers a nearby business.

"I pulled in the back parking lot, and I saw it was leveled, and it was like my heart just started pounding, so here I am, and I don't know what the next step is," said Debby Waterbury, an Arby's worker.

The owner of the Truck, Trailer & Hitch Center planned to get his business up and running as soon as possible.

"What are you going to do? Mother Nature ... she's going to do what she's going to do, and we just have to pick up the pieces," Dale Campbell said.

At least two other fast food restaurants in Independence also were damaged.
