A representative for the Jackson County prosecutor's office said no charges will be filed against a former Kansas City Chiefs player involved in a fatal crash Sunday.

Richard Baldinger, a Chiefs offensive lineman from 1982 to 1993, and now a sportscaster, was not injured in the fatal car wreck, but a woman in the car that troopers said he hit did not survive.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Baldinger was heading north at the Missouri Highway 40 and Bowlin Road intersection when he broadsided a car that was heading east with three people inside.

Marilyn Walters, 61, of Grain Valley, was killed. Her husband and another passenger were also injured but will survive their injuries.

A nearby business owner, Gina Roberts, of Roberts Nursery, heard the crash and witnessed the aftermath. She said it is a dangerous intersection, with cars entering the highway while others are traveling at highway speed. Roberts believes there should be traffic lights at the intersection.

Velda Cook, a spokeswoman for the Jackson County prosecutor, said investigators had ruled the collision an accident.
