KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A man was killed in a dirt bike wreck overnight.

Police were called to the wreck near South 55th and Miami streets about 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

Officer said a man driving a motorcycle was injured when he collided with a car. The man was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Accident investigators said the car was turning left from northbound 55th Street on to Miami Street when it collided with the bike.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim. But friends of the victim who were at the scene of the wreck identified him as 20-year-old Corey Van Gordon.

Friends Kevin Allard and Katie Barth said Van Gordon, the father of a 9-month-old boy, was riding dirt bikes with a friend when the wreck happened.
